2. Annual General Meeting (AGM) on March 13, 2004
46 people participated in our AGM held on March 13, of which there were 27
voting members and 6 proxies. It
was a ¡¥merry-get-together¡¦ while we got the official business ¡¥objectives¡¦
accomplished. Jackie, in her usual
graceful, but bossy, manner, chaired the meeting and gave her lovely ¡¥Little
Boxes¡¦ styled tokens to the 03-04 committee members for appreciation of the
their good works over the past year. The committee enjoyed very much getting
the alumni activities going. Not
surprisingly, most of the committee members were re-elected and were keen to
stay on to serve another term. We
must take this opportunity to thank Fanny Ching, our ex-financial secretary who
could not serve for another for personal reasons. She has all impressed us by
her enthusiasm and the sound financial reporting standards she brought to
bear. With overwhelming support
from other committee members, our ever-charming and smiling President, Ms Jackie
Leung, was re-elected as President for a second term. Special thanks are also given to May Shuen and Fanny for
making the AGM such a successful event. Samuel, as usual, provided IT technical
support to make the work report presentation and voting sections possible. Also thanks are due to KS and other
members who sponsored the lovely party bags and many other goodies to take
away.
Regrettably, Vina Ip, our valuable committee member had to tender her resignation after the AGM election due to personal reasons. Her resignation was reluctantly accepted and approved by the committee.
3. Year Plan ¡V Activities Ahead, please pencil down these dates ¡K
It has been a very interesting and exciting period for us since the new committee members took office after our 13th March AGM. The new committee has developed an exciting activities program plan. The highlight is our Shanghai Tour this November, taking advantage of the mid-term school break.

4. Happy Dim Sum Brunch, 25th April 2004 at Jade Palace
¡¥Yum
Cha¡¦ still remains the most popular way for us to catch up with friends in the
Alumni. Not only did we have a
record five tables gathering for our last Dim Sum Brunch Gathering but we also
had the pleasure of meeting some distinguished members from the HKU Alumni
Association, Singapore Chapter.
Nancy Tsang, their newly elected President came with her husband,
Alan. Dr Roger Pang, their
ex-President also came to our event after his Saturday clinic. You can imagine
how thrilled we were. It is always our hope to keep this Hong Kong high energy
and spirit going with some possible joint-events between the CUHK and HKU
Alumni Singapore Chapters.
5. A ¡¥French Connection¡¦ with Amy Yui from CUHK Alumni Office in Hong Kong ¡V 11 May 04
The above lovely photo was taken at Maison de Fontaine Restaurant on May 11 with Amy Yui (center, 2nd row), the Director of Administrative Services, CUHK. Since her last visit five years ago, Amy was in town last month to meet us all again. We had a cozy and private evening with dinner in a tasteful French-colonial bungalow house. Not only the good food and wine we had, Amy also gave us an update on the recent CUHK Alumni Office's work and how they are going to further support Singapore Alumni Association. We had also learnt about the development of other Alumni Associations in other places such as Australia and Shanghai. Besides, Amy had brought us some gifts from CUHK. We all had a great and memorable evening together.
6. More Love in the Air- Jackie and Jacky¡¦s wedding this May
Jackie Leong, our President, was celebrating her wedding at Grand Hyatt Hotel with an unforgettable wedding banquet including strong supporting performances from her many friends and alumni. Many of her friends also flied in from Hong Kong to attend the wedding and gave Jackie their very best wishes. Jacky, the lucky bridegroom, a Singaporean who speaks excellent Cantonese, has become our honorable Life member. He has a great sense of humor and shares a common interest in Chinese Opera with Jackie. Those who are lucky enough to have tasted his homemade cooking would agree to that. He does the best Stewed Beef Hot Pot in all Singapore.
See
the above photo, we were having great fun and games with the bride and
groom. Once again, we give our
congratulations and best wishes to the newly wedded couple. May their days be paved with blessings
and happiness.
