Alumni association activities of The Chinese University of Hong Kong date back to the pre-University days in the '50s and early '60s when graduates of the three original colleges established their respective college alumni associations.
In 1978, these three associations ( ie, Chung Chi College Alumni Association, New Asia College Alumni Association, and United College Alumni Association) joined together with the School of Education Alumni Association and the Graduate School Alumni Association to formally establish the Federation of Alumni Associations of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUFAA). In 1993, the Federation took in Shaw College Alumni Association as a new member association.
Throughout the years, alongside with member associations of the CUFAA, many other alumni associations of different interests and affiliation have also been established to promote alumni fellowship. Currently, there are over
80 alumni associations at home and abroad, they altogether form the CU alumni word-wide network. Every year, the Alumni Affairs Office invites overseas alumni to render assistance to CU students on student exchange abroad. Enthusiastic responses have always been received from overseas alumni, by association or individual.
All CU alumni associations have maintained close links with the University through the Alumni Affairs Office. The Office also provides support and service to these associations in their membership promotion.
