兼善天下
Extended Generosity
在澳洲華人社團有不少…,來自香港華僑之中有不少是大學生,因此在墨爾本也有不少這些大學的舊生會聚會。我自己是香港大學畢業,卻未有機會參加過香港大學校友的聚會,在上一期的《同路人》讀到田田女士寫的有關香港中文大學澳洲維省校友會所編寫的《中大人在墨爾本》,感慨良多。
這一本書記載了一些中大畢業生的移民心路、掙扎以及對澳洲的體會,確實很有意思。其中提及了一些中大校友會曾舉辦的活動,從這些活動看來,校友會已脫離純粹提供校友聯誼的機會,而是要為社區提供一些有意思的文化活動,如音樂會等,書末提及校友會參與《小扁擔》行動,推動在中國助學,我覺得是很有意思的事。
孔子說「窮則獨善其身,達則兼善天下」,大學生受了高等教育,移民澳洲,大多是專業人仕,成立校友會,除了作為彼此聯誼,在異地能互相關懷外,我覺得這些組織應該多作一些推動建設社區,為服務社會作出貢獻的工作。中大校友會能藉出售《中人在墨爾本》而為「小扁擔」助學活動籌款,我深深感覺這是很有意義的事。
我盼望更多的社團能衝開一種只為照顧自己人的心態,結合力量,成在社區中帶來更多建設的力量。我盼望其它大學的校友會也能朝這一個目標而努力。

regarded contribution to an education fund raising campaign.
I sincerely hope that more
community organisations could breakthrough a “self-serving” mentality, so that
their power of selflessness could converge to bring upon a better future in the
