Beard Removal for Tsunami Fund Raising

                                                                                             By  Dee Dee Michelle Lo

Mr Richard Bradford sat calmly on the stage of the Grand Ballroom Box Hill Town Hall, with a smile on his face and a red sheet around his neck. I stood beside him, holding his thick beard in my left hand and with the scissors, carefully took the first cut .Then, Mrs Violet Pointon came forward ,with her wonderful hands, she began to shave skillfully.

Meanwhile in the splendid hall, 107 people in a big circle, holding hands  swayed their bodies slightly. " We live in a lucky country, we can enjoy our dancing without worrying the disasters intend to happen.........." Mr Stuart Pointon's voice came from the stage, deeply touched everyone's heart.

It was the Tsunami Fundraiser Social Dance organized by Mr Pointon on 20th Feb. Mr Pointon is a well known dance teacher who started dancing at 5 and has passion and is dedicated to teach Ballroom Dance, Latin and New Vogue. He wanted all social dancers joined together and danced to help the people that had been affected by the Tsunami disaster. Thanks to the Whitehorse Council for offering the Town Hall cost free, so all proceeds would be donated to charity.

Mr Richard Bradford had had his beard for 17 years. One night I asked him if I donated a hundred dollars, would he shave his beard. "  If  you can raise a thousand ! "  So  we started the Beard Removal Fund Raising. After 20 days, with 179 people's support, we raised $2485.20 and with the proceeds from the Social Dance $1090,we donated $3575.20 to the Tsunami Victims through the Red Cross.

There is a place in our hearts and we know that it is love. With love we can make the world a better place for you, for me and for the entire human race.
