Raymond Chow,  Don Quixote of the 21 Century

By Dee Dee Lo Drawing Zhou Xiao Ping

As a Christian, Raymond Chow believes in serving people. He wants to serve people not only those who go to church on Sunday. He believes in sharing, accompanying and transforming.

In 1998 he opened a book store Rejoice providing the priests and the students of the religious colleges, cheaper Chinese text books. In 2004 his magazine was published and his mission has clearly stated in its name----Sameway. A year later MSM (Melbourne Student Messenger) was born for the Chinese overseas students. In 2006 Infoway, an informative newspaper was published.

Over the past four years Sameway has been facing severe difficulty, yet Raymond and his staff, have reported lots of inspiring stories in the local Chinese community and have organized a number of community events to help in strengthening communication, understanding and support in the community. They have been offering support to families with autistic issues, depression issues, gambling issues and families in crisis or needing help and meanwhile promoting footy, the well loved game to Chinese and have support from AFL providing 1000 free tickets to Sameway readers. He believes Sameway can be the mate for Chinese community and the bridge of the Chinese community and the mainstream society.

On 18th July the 100th issue was published and Sameway turned nationwide with 22000copies distributed in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide and further enhances its content with more articles about various cities and it is definitely entertaining and informative. Sameway is the blessing to every one of us.

In the early 17th century Spanish writer Cervantes created a knight----Don Quixote whose quest was to pursuit his glorious quest. Raymond Chow is the Don Quixote of our century, he is the man who dares to dream the impossible dream. *

To fight the unbeatable foe,

To bear the unbearable sorrow,

To run where the brave dare not go,

To right the unrightable wrong,

To love pure and chase from afar,

To try when your arms are too weary,

To reach the unreachable star,

      *    *    *

This is my quest to follow that star

No matter how hopeless, no matter how far

That my heart will lay peaceful and calm

When I’m laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this

That one man, scorned and covered with scars

Still strove with his last ounce of courage

To reach the unreachable star………..
