On
an overcast Sunday seven of us walked along the Main Yarra Trail,
heading towards the Southbank direction. As we left the historic
Fairfield Park and Studley Park Boathouses, we entered the
Yarra
Bend
Park
where we saw native bushland and wildlife habitats. If was a pity that
we didn’t bring binoculars with us otherwise we would have been able to
watch a number of native birds. Before we walked past the Collingwood
Children’s Farm we took a short break on an observation deck where we
watched the Yarra
River
bubbled over rapids.
If you missed out all
these beautiful sceneries along the Yarra River, don’t worry, here is
another chance for you to hear the sounds of the Yarra River. This time
we will go to the other end of the
Yarra
River,
see how it flows through the wooded
Warrandyte
State Park.
This 620 ha park’s treasures include wildflowers (but don’t be
disappointed if we don’t see a lot in winter), native wildlife and the
site of Victoria’s first gold discovery in 1851. The clear light and
peace and silence of the bush are also sources of inspiration to
artists, writers and people who wish to contemplate nature.
