Picnic in June, 2006

Date: Saturday, June 10, 2006, Time: 12:00 noon till 5:30 pm

Location: Blue Star Memorial Woods of Cook County, IL

Summary of Picnic - by Allan Liu (廖國麟 83 UC Geo)

The picnic was held on Saturday June 10, 2006 successfully. Dr. Philip Fu (傅元國教授 former CC head 81-88) asked me whether I got any sleep the night before when the rain was pouring. You see I am now a Wisconsin Cheesehead and we did not get as much rain as the south. Thus I was not too concern, though it was windy and cool (only 60F or about 15C). It turned out to be a fair day with sunshine and no rain.

This event has 33 participants (including alumni and friends and family members), coming from 3 states – Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan. The most senior generation is Dr. Fu (57 CC), Charles Cha (查衛元 68 NA Math) mentioned that his class was the first one of CU’s graduates after the combination of the 3 colleges (CC, NA, UC).

Thanks for all those who came, bringing food and drinks and helping organize the event. Special thanks to Raymond So (蘇霖 75 CC PHY) for bringing the grilling package and the pinatas, and the gathering at Ray’s home after the picnic. Thanks to Susan Blumberg-Kason (白素珊 91 UC OSPI, 96 Grad GPA), Ophelia Wong (鄧嫻貞 77 NA Jounalism & Comm) and Dionne Lam (林薏芯 95 CC Acct) for providing transportation to those who needed it.

Everyone has brought some food and/or drinks. There were so much food that we could not finish. Ophelia and Helen Wan (尹嘉麗 92 Shaw BBA) must have spent a lot of time preparing and cooking food for this picnic.

Professor Yuk-fai Fong (房育輝 94 NA ECON, 96 Grad ECON) and his wife Janet brought their lovely baby Jason. We love babies!!

Irene Chung (鍾愛蓮 00 UC BBA) brought her friend Milky from Kalamazoo, Michigan. A long and winding road. Glad to have you there Milky!

As Dionne is moving to Colorado in early July, we will certainly miss you. We THANK you for all the help and supports you provided us and helped our group growth. Please keep in touch and let us know when will you be back in town so we can get together again.
