  1. Alumni ID
    1. What is Alumni ID?
      Beginning from October 2010, every alumnus of the University will be assigned with a 10-digit Alumni ID. This Alumni ID will be an important identification number for alumni and will be widely used in online systems of the University requiring authentication, including the MyCUHK online platform. When a CUHK graduate pursues another degree at the University, his/her Alumni ID will also serves as his/her Student ID.
    2. How can I get my Alumni ID?
      You can expect to receive your Alumni ID from the Alumni Affairs Office after Oct 27, 2010. If you have not received your Alumni ID by mid November, 2010, you may also acquire the number from the MyCUHK website (please refer to the next question)
    3. How do I retrieve my Alumni ID if I have lost it?
      Please visit MyCUHK (http://portal.cuhk.edu.hk) and input your HKID number and graduation information in the front page of the MyCUHK platform to acquire your lost/ forgotten Alumni ID. In case your HKID information is not available for the request to be processed automatically, please contact the Alumni Affairs Office (mycuhk_alumni@cuhk.edu.hk) to provide your graduation certificate and identification document for processing the request.
    4. Can I change my Alumni ID?
      The Alumni ID is a life-long identification number assigned to individual alumni and cannot be changed.
    5. I am a graduate as well as a student right now. Will I receive an Alumni ID?
      No, alumni who are current students should use their student ID to login MyCUHK. The same number will allow alumni who are current students to access alumni services. After graduation, the Student ID will be his/her Alumni ID.
  2. Setting up MyCUHK Password
    1. What is MyCUHK Password?
      To login MyCUHK, you are required to input your Alumni ID as well as the MyCUHK Password. Alumni have to initialize their account by setting up his/her MyCUHK Password at the front page of MyCUHK (see below). Alumni may also change his/her MyCUHK password at the MyCUHK platform.
    2. What if I have forgotten my MyCUHK password?
      You can reset the password after inputting the required graduation information and giving correct answers to your pre-set security questions at the front page of MyCUHK.
    3. How to change my MyCUHK password?
      You can login MyCUHK and change the password online.
    4. I am a graduate of the University and also a currentstudent. Do I need to set up a new MyCUHK password to login MyCUHK? Or should I use my CWEM password to login?
      Students, whether or not they are alumni, should use the CWEM password to login. You may decide whether or not to keep your CWEM as your MyCUHK Password after you graduate.
    5. I am a current student. If I forgot my password after graduation, what should I do to retrieve it? Do I need to visit the University’s Information and Technology Services Centre to get it back in person?
      Students should login MyCUHK and give answers to the security questions at MyPage as soon as they graduate from the University. You may set up a new password at MyCUHK by answering the security questions should you forget your password in the future.

    1. What is MyCUHK?
      MyCUHK is an online platform for alumni, staff and students to access campus news and a wide range of online services through the following tabs of the portal:
      MyPage - Inquire /update personal information, change password, apply for/update alumni free forwarding email address and register for University activities, etc. You may personalize both content and layout of this page.
      News and Events - Updates on the University’s news and events, information of upcoming activities and reading the alumni e-newsletters
      Library - Access to library catalogue and library records etc. (The Library password can be stored in MyCUHK to enable quick access to “My Library” and “My Library Record” without logging in again).
      Useful Links - Information on over 100 alumni organizations, alumni benefits and useful links to colleges and units of the University.
    2. What is the website address of MyCUHK?
      http://portal.cuhk.edu.hk
    3. What are required to login MyCUHK?
      Alumni are required to login MyCUHK with their Alumni ID and the MyCUHK password.
    4. Can I view /update my personal information in MyPage?
      The personal information that can be viewed/ updated, includes names, addresses, phone & fax numbers, email addresses and work experience.
    5. May I donate online via MyCUHK?
      Alumni may donate online via MyCUHK and may also download donation form from MyCUHK.
    6. I am a graduate and also a current student. Which role should I select when I login MyCUHK?
      You may choose to login as a student or as an alumnus depending on the services you wish to access. If you login as a student, you may access information and pages exclusively for students such as class enrollment, course content and other information of the student information system. If you login as an alumnus, you can then access information specifically for alumni.
    7. What is the browser requirement for MyCUHK?
      MyCUHK can run on most commonly used browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari, with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x/7/x being the preferred platform with full support.
    8. What is the Root security certificate requirement for the new MyCUHK?
      The new MyCUHK website uses root security issued by the Hong Kong Post to deliver secured website content. This root certificate is automatically trusted by Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or higher. If you use other browsers, you are advised to install Hong Kong Post Root Certificate in order to operate smoothly without the security certificate warnings.
    9. When I select “MyLibrary” or “My Library Record” in the Library Menu, I was prompted with a login page, why?
      These Library websites do not use MyCUHK password or CWEM password, and so MyCUHK cannot login to these websites automatically. However, you can store your Library password in MyCUHK by the “Store Library Password” option. Once you save your Library password in MyCUHK, MyCUHK can login to these websites automatically for you. If you forget your Library password, please contact Library to reset your Library password first.
    10. Does MyCUHK have a Chinese User Interface?
      Currently, MyCUHK runs on an English User Interface. However, it can still display Chinese content encoded in Unicode. There is a plan to roll out the Chinese version of MyCUHK in the future. Users will then be able to switch between English and Chinese within the website.
