Following is a personal biography forwarded by On Kit Tam:
On Kit Tam is Professor of
International Business and Associate Dean (International) at the Faculty of
Business and Economics, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. He is also
Co-Director of the Monash Governance Research Unit, and Director of the
China Research Center at the Monash Asia Institute.
On Kit researches and teaches in the
areas of international business and foreign investment strategies, corporate
governance and Asian economic development. He has published many journal
articles and several books on issues of monetary management, financial
development, and corporate governance in the Asia Pacific region, with
particular reference to China. His research projects have been awarded major
grants from key Australian and international bodies including the Australian
Research Council and the Ford Foundation.
Prior to joining Monash University,
he was with the University of New South Wales. He has previously worked in
the Treasury Department of the Australian Federal Government, and Phillips
Hong Kong. Professor Tam has extensive university teaching, executive
training, PhD supervision, and commercial consultant experiences both in
Australia and overseas.
He has undertaken consulting
assignments for major organisations including the World Bank, Asian
Development Bank, Australian Federal Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade, Austrade, Shanghai Economic Reform Commission,
Science and Technology Commission of Sichuan, MLC Asia, Lend Lease
Corporation, Rio Tinto Limited, and Oxford Analytica.
